After reading Arnold's post regarding his ferret's belly being a possible metastasis, I thought I'd ask this question:
Does Prednisolone cause a large belly? My ferret has been on this med since June 9 and he is having such a hard time getting around now. When he urinates he often gets the urine on his underside because he can't raise himself up enough to stay clean. I've watched him trying to get around and it looks like quite a feat for him, he often makes a grunting sound when I pick him up and I'm sure the big belly is uncomfortable for him.
The last vet visit (August 24) an xray was done and the vet didn't see anything suspicious. If the Pred is causing the swollen belly, is there another medication that can be used in its place?
