The important thing is to find out first WHAT is causing the belly enlargement.
Pred can and often does cause fat gain, but ascites is a ppossibility which your vet needs to eliminate from the running. Ascites is usually caused by heart disease, and Pred can have a conflict with that. It also can have other causes including lymphoma, kidney disease, and more.
Time for the vet to take a look again!
