Personally, I'd keep him from climbing around until the staples are
removed... just in case they could get caught on something in the big
cage. (I feel lucky, my vet had time to do regular 'absorbing' sutures
for Ziya's surgery yesterday.) Same with wrestling with his buddies...
I'd be afraid of a claw getting stuck on one of the staples.

But if he's already eating on his own, that's great! Ziya had
intestinal surgery for a blockage, so we'll be doing 'finger feeding'
for at least a couple days, it seems.
