Subject: Post-Op Supervision/Tooth Grinding?

OK, so Ziya seems to be doing great after yesterday's surgery. She's
pooped, is eating frequent small meals willingly, no vomiting, resting
quietly in her carrier, etc...

I brought her to work with me today, because the vet said she should
be under supervision and needed frequent meals, etc., and I expect I
should bring her in tomorrow as well, even though the vet said it
would be OK to switch to 4 larger feedings instead of small snacks
every 1-2 hours.

I plan on keeping her in a small cage for at least the rest of the
week (the pet carrier while she is at work with me, and a larger
single-level cage we have when she can be left at home)... But,
assuming everything continues to go well today and tomorrow, how many
days after abdominal surgery is constant supervision necessary?

The vet said I could go to three feedings a day on Friday, if things
continue to improve, which means I could feed her in the morning
before work, when I get home in the afternoon, and at night before I
go to bed (that was her feeding schedule while she was getting ulcer
medication). Is the third day after surgery safe for her to be left at
home in a single-level cage with soft blankets (to protect her stomach
incision)?

Also: Is tooth grinding normal the day after a blockage surgery, or is
that a sign that the stress of the whole ordeal caused her ulcers to
reoccur?

Thanks so much! This group is really a blessing to have at a time like
this. (You're a real gem, Sukie! :-)
