The problem with the Carafate is that she won't take it willingly, and
if I try to give it by eyedropper she throws a thrashing fit. I don't
want her to strain her sutures. I'm going to wait until tomorrow
before trying it again, because she really flipped when I tried to
give it this morning.

The vet said as much soft food as she has eaten today (homemade gravy,
extra watery), not to worry about dehydration. Her skin 'snap back'
response is a little slow, but not bad...

But if subQ suddenly becomes necessary, is it required to use ringers
solution, or could boiled distilled (and cooled!) water be used in an
emergency? (I have sterile syringes, and could get ringers from the
vet if necessary.)

OK, I'll wait 'till she livens up a bit more before I worry about it
then. She's been pretty happy to sleep most of today, and I think
that's just as well since she's also got sutures in her intestine.

Thanks again!
