Jen,

The little red dots probably could be a number of things. I had one little ferret that had a lot of them, but they weren't obvious until he was shaved for adrenal surgery.

Long story short, Bandit bled to death from only the incision. His platelet count was only 10,000. Blood tested ok on my vet's equipment (~300,000) but it was on the sample sent out that we discovered the problem. Bandit was young, not quite 4 years old.

You might have a blood test done to see if it tells you anything. If I saw this again, that is where I would start.
