households (since living environment darkness levels appear to affect onset rates and ages) and individual ferrets will vary.
Also, we have had our share of adrenal growths in ferrets, I guess about a 1/3 or maybe a touch more of our's here. (We have had ones who lived full lifespans with no signs of adrenal growths even in pathology at death after a full life -- when we could afford it we did that sort of thing always -- who were always allowed to have a lot of complete darkness. During ro shortly after extended periods when we haven't been able to provide enough hours of complete darkenss we have even had a couple with adrenal growths before age 5 (and one questionable one with adrenal inflammation -- but who had kidney problems and bladder problems -- whose adrenals came out prophylactically due to wanting to hit every possible treatable cause of urinary blockage during surgery that could be safely tackled.)
As usual, I am not a vet, and, yes, households, ferrets, and I suspect perhaps locations vary...
