No, that's not right. If one were to go by the recommendation in the previous edition of "Ferrets, Rabbits and Rodents - Clinical Medicine an Surgery" which says 2 mg per kg, twice a day, that would work out to 1 mg, twice a day for Sophie's weight. But even that is often exceeded. Many have found much higher doses are tolerated pretty well.

Someone here recently mentioned they were giving their ferret 10 mg a day. That might be a bit much considering how small Sophie is, but it just goes to show you that ferrets are very tolerant of high doses.

Have your vet check some current references for dosage information. Better yet, buy him the latest copy of "Ferrets, Rabbits and Rodents..." It sounds like it would be a useful addition to his library. Maybe he'll give you a discount on the next visit for the "gift". :)
