Not being a vet, my first gut feeling- Lupron would be better. I say this because most adrenal gland tumors only overproduce sex hormones, not the cortisol. By using Vetoryl you will also block the cortisol production which is needed. THis could cause an addison type problem if blocked too much of the cortisol and aldosterone- would probably require blood test monitoring while using it. Rarely ferrets do get an overproduction of cortisol with adrenal gland disease, in those rare cases this drug may have its uses?

Like lysodren (?sp) it looks like vetoryl is more for the type of disease dogs get called Cushings. Many vets lump adrenal gland disease in ferrets with this dog disease, but they are not the same physiologically.

Luprpon is more specific to the sex hormone without affecting the cortisol production.

Patty
ps. It may work because it would decrease some of the sex hormone production as well, I just feel lupron would be safer

I already know the answer- use Lupron. I just want the opinions of
experienced ferret people so we can give information to this vet.
