I think the usual max. is up to 2mg per kg or a little less than 1 mg per pound of ferret. I do think some can tolerate a bit more, b ut at that dosing you may then want to think about proglycem as well.

Now, are you sure you are talking 0.2mg and not 0.2 mls? If you are giving her 0.2 ml it would depend on the actual concentration of the medicine she is on to determine how many mg you are giving.

Spacing out, getting wobbly, a little slow to respond, are all milder symptoms but do usually mean the blood glucose is low. Some ferrets can tolerate lows without many symptoms at all, others look very weak and out of it at just slightly low. I think if she can tolerate a little higher dose , then it may be worthwhile to try it. I would also recommend hand feeding her once or twice a day some extra meals = Bob Church's chicken gravy is great or even a meat baby food like gerber's or beachnut. Try lamb, veal, chicken- warm a little in microwave and feed by hand. After a few tries, once the ferret likes it, you can just put it on a plate and not have to hand feed.

I gave the vet a call and she said because of Sophie's weight (1lb.), that .25 is the maximum dosage for her. Does this sound right to anyone else? I'm a little stunned that after only 1 month on meds, that she's reached the max. This is my tough little ferret and she hasn't shown Sx of the insulinoma other than the spacing out.
