In response to people having a hard time keeping a ferret eating, I have found that if I give Katie some of my "simple duck soup" and water first, and then put her in front of her bowl of dry kibble, she will also eat some kibble after I hand feed her a little. I think that the hand feeding stimulates her interest in food, and then she will eat more of the regular food.
My simple duck soup may be good for people with busy jobs etc, for when you don't have time to make a more complex duck soup. I have been taking Katie's dry food, adding a tablespoon or so of Gerber's chicken and chicken gravy baby food, and some warm water and a few drops of ferretone. I let it sit for a few minutes and then mush it up and she loves it. This has been helping. Also, putting a few drops of ferretone into her regular water bowl, or into her kibble will attract her in that direction and often get her eating.
