Hi - my 3 year old ferret was recently diagnosed with a right adrenal tumor. We have not made the decision about surgery yet since it is obviously going to be risky. I would like to try the melatonin route before we try Lupron. I have not found reliable information on dose amount and timing of doses.
Can anyone share their experiences with me?
I have read that the melatonin needs to be given 7-9 hours after sunrise. Does anyone know how critical that timing is? What if I do it 10 hours or 12 hours later? I would think it would be more important to give at the same time of day regardless of the sunrise.
How soon after starting melatonin did anyone see success?
I do understand that this is not a cure for the disease, but merely counteracts the affects of the increased estrogen in the blood.
Thanks!
June
