We have been thru something similar. Our Arlo had adrenal surgery then we
found an enlarged prostate and difficulty urinating, he would also leak
constantly. With some research on the FHL we went to our vet who is ferret
savvy but was at a loss at the time, and we showed her an iten from the list
showing the use of prophecies and flu amide to reduce the prostate, at 0.1
mg/kg once daily and flutamide at 10 mg/kg twice daily. we worked it up into
suspension to give smallest dose possible. He also had an infection and we
first tried Baytril, no luck then following a culture of his urine switched
to Clavamox. To date he is back to his old self, bouncy, lively, and with a
small soft prostate, albeit he still has piddling problems, he still leaks
all the time but we are going to try him on a drug to help close the
sphincter in his penis. Hope this experience gives some insights.
