There is no such thing as a "safe procedure".
Anaesthesia always has risks. Any surgery has risks.
Any experienced ferret vet will tell you that.

Three of my ferrets have had
insulinoma surgery, a partial removal of the pancreas,
and all came through fine. It is a *very* common
procedure here, and our Podo was eight when his was done.
He had almost two more good years after that.
