My Buddy went in for follow-up bloodwork and urinalysis. Buddy has
cardiomyopathy and only one kidney, the remaining one not in the best of
shape. The test showed urinary tract infection, my vet suggested a culture
which I Ok'd. Results came back with two types of bacteria, e coli 1-10,000
per ml and acitobacter greater than 100,000 per ml. Dr was not surprised
with the e coli, but has only seen acitobacter one other time, that in a
cats lungs. Buddy is on Baytril, we will culture again in two weeks from the
start of treatment to see how long to continue the drug. I'd like to ask our
list veterinarians and others if they have encountered acitobacter in
ferrets. I did a brief google search and came up with something about coffee
grounds and vinegar. LOL
