I totally agree... :-) I didn't mean to imply at all that people who
feed small amounts of rasins and fruits are doing anything *bad* for
their ferrets. All things in moderation, after all. I just wanted to
have it said that ferrets can also be ecstatically happy with
meat-based treats, and don't seem to feel deprived in the absence of
fruity/sugary things.

I see a lot of posts on various ferret lists where owners seem to feel
that "treat" automatically means something sweet... raisins, Yogies
(or any number of other sugar/carb-based tidbits), etc. Which, from a
ferret point of view, isn't necessarily so.

Just wanted to put it out there that if you are inclined (as I am...
I'm a big sucker, and they know it!) to give in as soon as the little
carpetsharks come begging, there are options that they will like just
fine that are also the nutritional equivalent of teaching small
children to eat carrot sticks for dessert. ;-)
