Greetings. My 3 year old female ferret, Nibbles, has been diagnosed with adrenal disease. My vet's only recommendation at this moment is adrenal surgery. I'll state outright here that surgery is not in my student loan budget at the moment. It will be in my budget next semester. For the meantime, I have done much research on the internet regarding the benefits of Lupron. Here is my dilemna:

My vet has not seen reliable documentation on the benefits of Lupron therapy on Adrenal ferrets, but has agreed to give me a prescription for a one month shot. My biggest concern right now is aplastic anemia? In the meantime, he's also agreed to do more research on the affects of Lupron regarding Adrenal ferrets, and will be going to a veterinary conference in January where he will talk to other vets.
He has also agreed that if it looks to him like the Lupron has made a difference for Nibbles, he would continue the treatment. He is very skeptical.

My mission is to provide him with documentation about Lupron therapy PUBLISHED by other veterinarians in REPUTABLE veterinary magazines or books. I would appreciate anyone who can reference me to any of these publications. Understandably, he isn't interested in Internet published articles as they aren't reliably reputable to a vet who doesn't know the writer. To wrap this up, he is being very cautious about the whole situation, which is admirable. He just doesn't have enough information.

I adore my vet, and have switched all my pets to him from my parents' old veterinarians. I would prefer to educate him further on ferrets than to turn to a vet I don't know and trust.

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
Warmest Regards,
Dee (LvMyPhzBtt)
