Concerning Koda's fighting to get his medicine into him, I've had good succ=
ess by adding Splenda (an artificial sweetner) to his oral medications to s=
weetened it up a bit. Knocking the edge off the bitter taste seems to help=
the medicine go down. I personally use it to sweeten his PediaPred, Pepcid=
AC, and when he's taking it, Baytril.

Also, I was advised by a member of this board to get a prescription of Wins=
trol-V for my ferret, to stimulate his appetite. Boy, does this work! My =
JAY was being syringe fed for over 5 weeks, now he's started eating on his =
own again, though we're still feeding his Duck Soup as well, just to put so=
me weight back on him. You might want to ask your vet about this course of=
treatment. By the way, the Winstrol-V appears to taste alright, as there =
is very little squirming when giving this medicine without sweetening it up=
.=

Try to get a least 2-3 tsps. of Duck Soup in him every 4-5 hours, as this a=
lso helps keep his blood sugar stable. I know its tough, so if you can onl=
y get 1-2 tsps. in him, it's better than none. The last feeding before bed=
time is critical, since both of you are going to be asleep for 7-8 hours, s=
o make sure you get a full amount of food (4 tsp) in him. Emotionally, it =
hurts to see them fighting you, but until he gets enough food and water int=
o himself, on his own, he's need your to be strong for him....even if he do=
esn't like it.

If anyone else can corroborate my information about the Winstrol-V, I'm sur=
e it would be greatly appreciated by Koda's mom. Winstrol has truly worked=
wonders for my JAY.

I you find this helpful.....

Sincerely,

Tim

me of it last night. I am not really getting enough sleep. Koda takes 1.5 c=

ed but he doesn't always want to eat it.(usually doesn't) The last two time=
s I have given any meds to Koda he acts like I am killing him he squirms ar=
ound puts both front paws up to his mouth and tries to get out whatever I h=
ave put in he sprays his meds everywhere. At this point I can't tell how mu=
ch of his meds he is really getting. I just feel so sorry for him. I have t=
ried duck soup for Koda he doesn't seem to like it. as a matter of fact he =
doesn't seem to like anything but his ferretone and his treats and he doesn=
't even always eat them. I am thinking at this point I have done all I can =
the Vet is out of ideas and Koda seems to be really suffering he doesn't se=
em to be in pain but he is having a hard time getting around (that is when =
he is awake) and he sleeps most of the time. I am going to the vet again to=
day to see what the vet has to say. As far as I can tell the only thing tha=
t seems to have gotten better is his temp is now normal. If anyone has any =
other ideas I would really love to hear them =
