Sorry to hear about your encounter with your vet. Finding someone more up to date about the latest medical information for ferrets is probably a good move. Or at least someone open to learning.
I've heard good things about Temple Terrace Animal Clinic in your area. I don't have any contact information, but you should be able to find them in the yellow pages or by calling 411.
