As someone with a ferret with IBD, and a paast ferret with it, two things pop up right away for me:

Did you check for dietary allergies? These are usually chicken, less commonly multiple poultry, and even less commonly other meats usually, or at times a starch type that has some of its own tag along proteins.

Our current one does not change with novel foodds, but the past one turned out to be strongly reactive to poultry in general so we were very able to help him with that. For that one Imuran was also very useful. Another thing that helped him was Prednisolone (NOT Prednisone -- his liver did not do the processing step well.) when he also had a specific antibiotic given -- it's been a while so I can't recall which one but maybe Baytril.

The current one has responded well for an injectible steroid but the oral ones tried so far may as well have been water. He also responded okay -- but not hugely for Imuran for a few months but then it stopped having effect.

That is a common with IBD; it is not unusual to have to change approaches over time if it is a serious case. Neither of our's was a mild case.

Look up IBD and also look up Bowel in the Complete FHL Archives in

and you should find a lot of info.
