Subject: Still problems urinating
Message-ID: <001d01c4aa0d$2876af20$4becfea9@Ferretlove1>
My Hobo had adrenal surgery 6th of September. Before that he had problems
urinating. He had most of the left gland removed, it had grown or
metastasised very close to the vena cava so my vet couldn't remove all. It
was a carcinoma. After surgery he could urinate a little bit better but it
wasn't long until he had problems again. So on 25th September, Hobo had his
Lupron injection, 2mg of the 4 month depot. But his problems urinating have
just become progressively worse.
Today my vet expressed his bladder again. She expressed it 3-4 times within
half an hour and then suggested she should do a cysto. She could not
express it anymore and said the amount that was still in there was the sort
of amount where he'd usually need the toilet.
He also still has problems walking, his hind legs can not support his
weight, he just uses them to push himself around.
What should we try next? Is it likely to be the prostate? Should we try
Proscar/ Propecia? Could it be a different problem? That his bladder has
been so distended over such a long period of time that he can't empty it
anymore? Or that the nerves have gone or something? Could it be a
neurological problem arising from his spine/ back?
I guess I'd like to know of possible (and likely) scenarios and solutions?
I've never been here before and feel very bad about Hobo suffering like
this.
