It would be a ligatiion rather than a removal.
Survival largely depends on how good collateral circulation is.
Sometimes the Cava us just giving out so badly that it has to be tried no
matter what, other times a vet can hold the Cava closed for a while to get an
idea if there is good enough collateral circulation. We have never had one
with good enough collateral circulation to risk it, but some others have. One
of our's came very close to having to risk it.
