Hello. Several months ago I found a dog and brought him home. Well this dog picked up fleas about a month ago. I bought carpet spray, shampoo and such and treated weekly. Then got a flea collar and thought everything was good. Especially since I keep the dog separate from any of the ferrets.

Naive and stupid. Now one of my babies is paying the price. I found a flea on my little deaf girl tonight and I freaked. I've read all about how dangerous they are for ferrets (fortunately I give the critters monthly Ivemectrin for Heartworms). They don't even go outside for fear of picking something up unless held in mommas arms. I gave her a bath with her Sebalyte shampoo - apparently it kills them - but I found two more.

I'm more than a little panicked. I don't know what to do. I know I have to call the vet FIRST thing in the morning and get something to kill the fleas/protect the ferrets.

Beyond that- the house has fleas in it. I have no idea how to handle that problem - in all the years I've had dogs - NEVER had fleas (but that was before Texas and apparently killer fleas. lol).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A very panicked Ferret mom of 3.
