Subject: Need advice RE: broken hind leg
Message-ID: <002d01c4acd2$565b4c30$6401a8c0@jaque>

I have an approx 6 month old ferret with a broken hind leg. the xray shows
the break to be right close to the ball on the upper part of the femer (sp).
The ball is still in the hip joint. We have been refered to another vet at
A&M with the hope that an Femeral Head Ostecomy (sp) can be done instead of
amputation. This is an old break, possibly as old as 2-3 months.
Does anyone have any experience with this? If the F. H. O. can be performed
is it better for the ferret than amputation? Would amputation be better?
This is a young and otherwise healthy ferret.

Thank you for your time and help

Jaque and Athena
