I don't know about the 4-month Lupron's release rate being a problem or not, but I can say that I have used it for 4 or 5 years now in multiple ferrets with excellent results.
Perhaps in some cases, the 1-month may work when the 4-month doesn't. I'm not really sure why that would be, but anything is possible.
