You can also try this psycho weasel trick. Put some pieces of kibble into a paper bag so the ferret can try sneaking them. Once the ferret does start sneaking them remain "ignorant" of it, just replace them often. When it's been going on a while (at least days) then "discover" it and be encouraging but keep doing the bag for a while longer while also adding some food that is not in the bag.
