Pemphigus past posts may be of interest of there are a number of these scabs suddenly simultaneously and you know there are not parasites, also note mention of disseminated staph infection:

(If they may not have all arisen at once then don't discount mast cell tumors -- which are benign in ferrets but itch a lot. We've had several individuals who were exceedingly prone to them.)
