Hi, my ferret has lost almost 150g in the past 7 weeks. She 3,5 years old and is neuterd.
Beside being relly bony (she has just fur, skin and bone - almost no muscless) she seems to be ok. She eats and drinks normal, she has lost no fur. The only thing I noticed is, that she sleep a bit more (but not that much and when she is awake she is as playfull as usual). Also the feces look normal (no diarhoea, slime or strange look - like at the blockage) and she is not vomiting or anything. Yesterday we were at the vet, and no internal organs are enlarged and results of urine test were quite normal. The PH is a bit low and nitrits were a bit higher, but nothing was in the alert range.
In two days (tomorrow i will collect samples) we will also make a feces test (for coccidiosis and other bacterial and viral infection) - she definetly doesn't have internal parasites (worms and stuff), because she is "dewormed" regulary. The last dose of antiparasite tabs she got two weeks ago, and she has lost weight since than.
I feed her quality dry kitten food most of the time (more brands mixed together), because she doesn't eat meat or wet cat food. Only yesterday found one brand of wet cat food she likes. She also gets vitamin paste regulary and I give her laxatone once a week.
Yesterday a vet gave her an injection of B vitamin (komplex?) and some stuff for making her apetite bigger (i dont know what exactly she got).
If we won't find anything in the feces, we'll make some US or/and blood test (what do you recomend - the complete bloodwork+chemistry or just some parameters).
thnx in advance for your answers.
