I have 2 female ferrets. They both are going to be 3 years old. They are both from Marshalls. Both were spayed and descented before I ever got them.

Any way, I think that one of them is sick. She has lost some hair on the bottom part of her tail. I know this could be from stress, or the change of the seasons, but she also has a sore on her belly. It's about the size of a dime. She's also not as playful as she usually is.

I gave her a bath today with antibacterial soap. I plan on taking her to the vet tomorrow if it takes all day to get in.

But, the vet that I see doesn't really know a whole lot about ferrets. He sees them to give them their shots, and trim their nails. He's also checked them for worms in the past.

What has me concerned is that I just recently lost my guinea pig with a sudden illness. The ferrets and the guinea pig cages were both in the same room.

Should I be concerned that she could have caught something from the guinea pig?

Her poop isn't runny. She seems to be drinking plenty. I'm not sure about her appetite. She didn't want any treats today though.

Is there anything that I should ask the vet when I see him? Should I mention the possibility of the sore being a mast cell tumor?
