Subject: Ways to provide darkness?

I understand that 14 hours of total darkness is one of the best things we can do for our ferrets, but.... how do people accomplish that? I don't have a room I can dedicate to them. I'm thinking some sort of sleep box in their cage would give them more hours, but it would have to be of a certain size in order to get it through the cage door. When we go to bed, I cover their cage so the light from the computer doesn't get through. What else do people do?
