If the darkness can't be managed then provide melatonin orally or with implants.
Our adrenal rate is about 1/3 of our's and some of those were during periods when we couldn't provide enough darkness.
We do those things you mentioned and bedding that closes up, like dark sleep sacks. We tend to cover our guys before we go to bed. When they are playing we have dark areas worked up with things like dark covers over some furniture and carry cages.
