Thank you, Patty. That is consistent with the post from Dr. Bruce Willaims which I was quoting and I think that you managed to clarify a lot, at least for me.

Yes, Dr. Williams definitely warned about neomycin which is one of the components of at least one of the general use over-the-counter wound ointments available for human (note "human") use.

I am so glad that people ask these days. There seem to be fewer avoidable deaths and damage because of people taking the time to check on over-the-counter meds instead of just using them, and that caution is good for ferrets, which is what it is all about, anyway.
