Hi everyone, I just surfed onto this group and after reading some of the posts joined it right away...people seemed very helpful.
I am having a problem with my Ferret Bear. He had adrenal surgery in July and then after that he had 4 minor episodes of Insolinoma (only pawing at the mouth and wobling). They end the moment you give him a bit of Ferret-vite.
I took him to the vet on Monday and he found he had a blood level in the 50's...the blood test was done at 10am and bear hadn't eaten since 10pm the night before (since the surgery he has been crazy for duck soup). Bear usually plays non-stop about 2-3 hours every night and that hasn't stopped at all. I live in California so much "tech-support" for ferrets isn't available although a huge # of people own them, the vet said Bear would live at the most 2 more years (he is 4 now)....but from what I have been seeing on this group, ferrets live about 4-5 years after being diagnosed with this awful condition, and I want to do anything in my power to keep him well as long as possible.
If anyone has any pointers please let me know.
Thanks to everyone,
Al
