I couldn't seem to find exactly what I was looking for in the archives, so here is my problem.

On 9/12/04 I ran out of Totally Ferret. I usually buy a new bag to mix in with the old one because my ferret, Bu, doesn' always readily accept a new bag of even the same food. Well, this time I forgot to buy the new bag and of course he has rejected it. I bought another and he rejected it too. He has eaten Iams, Innova and Wellness foods in the past as well but has rejected those as well.

He has always been given chicken baby food as a treat so we started feeding him that because we was not eating the TF food. Strangely, he also seemed to stop drinking water (possibly due to eating the chicken baby food?). We took him to the vet and did a blood panel which showed some abnormal kidney numbers. They thought the numbers could just be due to dehydration and gave him some subcutaneous fluid.

He has acted relatively normal since this all started. He has never refused to eat as long as chicken baby food or some other favorite food is involved. We have been able to get him back on kibble (Totally Ferret and a little bit of Felidae cat food)by blending it with water in a blender and adding a little bit of chicken baby food.

What concerns me is he still will not eat his kibble or drink water even if he is alone for 8+ hours while we are at work. He is eating (the blended food), peeing and pooping seemingly fine.

Does anyone have any thoughts of concern or similar experiences to share? Thanks very much, Michael

P.S. The only other thing he has is little sores that show up occassionally but the vet doesn't seem concerned. He has had these for 1-2 years.
