I can't recall what we wound up having to use for her, but her infection was antibiotic resistant so the vet wound up using a safe but less usually used antibiotic which worked on it in the culture. Of course, your little one may not be in that same situation but it may be among the possibilities to discuss with your vet. Actually, thinking about it, I think the cuture that time wound up being done on me but she could safely have the same antibiotic which worked for us both.
