Yes, they keep trying to pass hair and quite often they get it out.

They make a number of hairball remedies in tubes. I use Kittymalt
sometimes. Mostly now I scoop up a half a teaspoon of Vasoline and mix
about a quarter of a tsp of Ferretone into it. My ferret will just lick
that up and it will move some hair. I give it to her about twice a week
when she is shedding and once a week other times.
