Subject: Melatonin Preventative?

I was wondering if there was any information on the effects (good or bad) of
using melatonin as a preventative before any signs of adrenal occur? I was
thinking of this because it seems that many ferrets do not get enough total
darkness anyway and maybe the melatonin would help supplement for this?
