I scrub the litter boxes with hot, soapy water. I then spray them with a 1:10 bleach:water solution and set them out in the sun until they dry. I then rinse and dry again. (You don't have to re-rinse them since chlorine evaporates in the sun, but I feel safest that way). They are then disinfected, as well as cleaned.
