Oh, and there's also Ferretvite (and Furovite) paste, which is a sweet
malt syrup-based vitamin supplement. I don't know that there's a major
difference between Ferretvite and Nutrical (a popular dog/cat vitamin
supplement with the same malt syrup base)... and I hesitate to give a
lot of it to my girls (except mixed with petroleum jelly during
shedding season) because of the high sugar content.

But nutrical/ferretvite type supplements are useful for short-term use
with animals who are underweight for some reason. Those sorts of
supplements are designed to give a lot of calories and stimulate
appetite. Again, something I only do when one of my girls aren't
feeling well.
