It may not necessarily be "hard of hearing" as much as it is "selective hearing". My
boy often pretends he can't hear me but if I shake his treat can he comes running.
He learns what noises mean "treat" (or good things) and which ones mean he's
going back to his cage. But I'm not a vet so I can't rule out hearing difficulties.
