An update on Natasha: Upon arrival at the clinic, the vet found her
glucose to be in the 50s--this was after Natasha had begun recovering
and regained use of her legs. Dr. Xxxx figures the symptoms I observed
were due to the drop in glucose. She raised the prescribed dose to 0.3
mL @ 6.7 mg/5 mL. She's back to her near-normal self. Mainly she doesn't
dance like she used to but still runs around the house and can climb on
the furniture again.

About a month-and-a-half ago she had had a milder episode where she kept
going around in circles. This was when someone was taking care of my
ferts while I was out of town and I don't know which direction she was
circling in.

So far I've never had any problems after scruffing a ferret; it's
unsettling that I may have hit the wrong "spot" by chance. My #1 concern
is the suddenness of the onset of the hypoglycemia and that if this
happened in the middle of my workday or while I'm asleep at night, it
could be life-threatening by the time I came home/woke up.

You say in your post that the left-sided weakness occurred AFTER you
scruffed Natasha. Is is possible that a nerve in the neck/spine area was
pinched during the scruffing? Just a thought....
