When not enough adrenal tissue is present the adrenal products need to be replaced. Your vet can use a combo of either:

Percorten and Prednisolone

(Pediapred often works better on ferrets than Prednisone since they sometimes have trouble with the liver processing step)

or

Florinef/Fludrocort and Prednisolone

(On very rare occassion Dex has been used instead of Prednisolone.)

Read up on Addisons in

and elsewhere.

The Pred helps with the hydration problem and the Percorten or Florinef/Fludrocort helps with the electrolytes.

Some ferrets require adjustment, and over time any physicial stress, substantial weight gain, or extreme physical activity may bump up the amount of Fludrocort needed.

Also very important: was a biopsy done to know what type of growth was present?

If so, what type?

When surgery is done it really pays to have biopsies done and tissues sent to a knowledgeable vet pathologist.
