Subject: Sammy-pancreatic tumors, liver damage, teeth grinding

Sammy, our not quite 2 1/2 yr. old has been having major allergic reactions for
about 6 to 8 months and started losing hair on his neck, feet, and tail, along with
excessive scratching and not as much energy as usual. He had adrenal surgery two
weeks ago and had his left adrenal removed. At that time the vet showed us tumors
on his pancreas which he said were NOT insulinomas, a terrible looking liver, as well
as a very mottled looking spleen. Sammy acted great a few hrs. after surgery but
really declined about 24 hrs. later. He seemed very weak and didn't want to eat and
the teeth grinding increased. The vet told me to give him carafate 30 minutes prior
to feeding him his baby food recipe. He fights that and doesn't want to eat. I cut it
back to once a day and he's eating great every three hrs. now. He is still very weak
and the only thing that seems to give him any boost at all is sub cu fluids, even
though he doesn't seem dehydrated at all. He is on amoxi, the carafate, and milk
thistle. The vet keeps referring to ulcers??? , although he never mentioned this at
the time of the visit. He said to watch for Sammy not wanting to eat to know when
it's "time". I have been getting up every three hrs. to feed him and of course, hold
him and talk to him. I am frantic and don't know what else I can do for him. Any
suggestions?
Sammy has been with us less than two years. He was dropped at a petstore and had
his leg broken as a baby. Since they couldn't sell him he came to live with us,
crooked leg and all. He has always been a little "hellion" and seeing him this way is
very hard to take............
