It has been called Disseminated Idiopathic Myositis. There are a few vets looking into finding out what is causing this, and the AFA has this reporting form:
http://www.ferret.org/pdfs/general/DIMCaseReport.pdf
Here is the medical alert sent out:
http://www.ferret.org/news/052404a.htm

2 vet pathologists are interested in looking at samples, there is info at the above link, if your vet has not done so, he/she may want to contact one of those pathologists and see about getting some more information.
Plus, your vet can contact one of the vets on the list at the above link for some more advice.

I don't know if Ally has this, she is a bit older than most reported cases and the wbc is extreme, but another good reason for your vet to conact one of the vets who have been working on diagnosing this illness.

I really hope Ally pulls through this.

Hugs,

Patty

Ally is about 2 years old and has been in excellent health up until last
Friday.
