Hi! I was hoping some of you might help with some problems I'm having with my
two boys. The vet doesn't seem too bothered by them, but I am.

First there's the weight issue. Oscar (a male, incase the name wasn't a give-away)
weighs about 850g. He's always been a small boy, and this weight loss has not
been dramatic. But I'm worried if he gets sick, he'll have nothing on him for the
extra energy. He's EXTREMELY picky, and in his 4 and a half years of life, has only
just started to like Ferretone from one particular bottle (we think the 8-in-1 recipe
must have slightly changed here in the UK). He also makes horrible faces to all the
chicken soup recipes I've tried. He's a Marshall ferret (yes, we're American living in
the UK) and has the 'whippet' body type Marshall is so famous for. If there are any
recipes that we could try, or even medications to get his appetite (besides steroids, I
don't want to go there!)I would really appreciate it (even more chicken soup recipes).

Second, Antonio has hair loss at the tip of his tail that spirals down about two
inches from the tip. There's lots of hair everywhere else, so doesn't seem to be
either adrenal pattern or shedding. This hasn't changed in about 3 months as well.
The tip is blackened, almost bruised looking, but darker. Doesn't seem to be a
chordoma either. And I hate to say it because I'm always so careful and I have the
foot shuffle down packed, but I stepped on his tail while he was eating. And it was
hard because I caught him with the heel of my boot. When I went to appologize, I
realised he hadn't even noticed. The vet tried pinching his tail, but I'm not sure that
would have bothered a ferret with definite tail feeling. Has anyone had experience
with this? I've been watching carefully to see if there is necrosis, but the blackened
part has't spread a bit.

Thank you to anyone who can help!

Elizabeth

[Moderator's suggestion: if you have a recipe which you have already posted then
giving Elizabeth the URL (address) of that past post in

will save both time and space.]
