His stomach can have ulcers too. As Mike said starting with 50 may be
enough you need to see how he reponds. I would also have like a full panel
since some things mimic renal disease and you don't always get the full
picture. We use different values in the states so if you have the normals
for your lab that would be great if not I can use the ones from the books.
I also thnk you need a CBC to see what his red count is doing. There are
many little things we can do to keep them comfortatble with a good quality
of life so give it a good try. Take things one day at a time and try
treating with carafate and see if it helps his appetite since he might have
stomach ulcers that are not as apparent. Good Luck.
