I have a freestyle monitor and I am trying to get an accurate reading on the glucose levels of the ferrets in the rescue. I keep getting readings of 67 on the majority of the ferrets and I have gotten a reading of 27 on one. What I am wondering is, does the location of where you get the blood sample make a huge difference in the reading? Is there some mathematical trick I am supposed to do? I get the sample from the paw pad, on one of the toes. I know that alot of shelter moms cut the nail too short to get the sample, but I am not comfortable with doing that. Why would my readings be so different?
