This same thing happened to one of my ferrets. I washed her tail every day with a human acne face scrub with salicylic acid and all her hair grew back (over a couple months). The blackheads mostly went away too. That was a year and a half ago and she hasn't had any more hair loss.

"She lost a bunch of hair at the end of her tail (about 3/4 and inch - uneven loss, one side is heavier than the other) a couple months ago. She has little brown spots like black heads that are intermittent on teh skin."
