Please I am begging anyone with experience to help me.
Rudy is a 2 yo neutered boy. I adopted him along
with his 2 other cagemates end of June '04. Rudy has
had ONLY birdseed poops. He also gets intermitent
bouts of diarhia, but its always birdseed like. He
eats, drinks, plays all normally. His weight is ok
(he's not decreased any significant amount - which is
also baffalling), since birdseed means his food is not
being absorbed?? He's been on Metronidazole about a
mnth ago, no change, now he's on Metronidazole and
Amoxi and Pepto (he hates!), and its been 8 days and
STILL no change. I read that effects of ECE can last
for months, sometimes forever, and they may need to be
supplimented for months (but it doesnt say which med).
What does he need for meds to make him able to absorb
his food?? I've tried him on 3 different kinds of
food. He's on 8in1 Ultimate now. I am Highly
concerned as he's not getting the proper nutrients.
He's not been around any other ferrets since end of
June. He plays, but he's not as active as the other
2. What does he need to be supplimented with to help
him to be able to absorb his food?? Please help!
When I research 'birdseed' stools, it just tells me
what it means. He's had a # of fecal tests,
giardia... nothing shows up. Could it also be IBD?
Thanks,
Andrea and Rudy
