Subject: Bad shedding or Adrenal is back ???

My ferret Cookie had his left Adrenal gland removed last August 2003 at 2 1/2 years old.

This year, he had 1 mast cell tumor removed last May and 2 mast cell tumors removed last September 08 (2 months ago). Now, he's in his shedding period ... and it's a very strange one ...

I'm worried because he has the usual adrenal hair loss pattern ... He has lost all the hairs on his rump and almost 1/3 at the base of his tail ... but all his hairs are growing back !

After 2 months, there's not much hair on the 2 areas where he had his MCT surgeries ... even short hairs that have just grown back are falling ... but new ones are growing back ... He keeps licking his rump and scratches a lot ... and he has that marking behavior ...

Last week ... I've noticed he had a red spot on his back as it was very itchy for him. I thought OMG not another mast cell tumor ... you know what ? A big black hair was growing UNDER his skin ... it was where he had his stitches ... it was really very strange ... so I decided to take a look at his other MCT surgery near his tail ... there was 2 black hairs growing UNDER his skin !!!

I took a needle and make a very little hole in the skin and after a while ... I had success and pulled out the 3 hairs from his skin (and one hair was totally under his skin). Cookie was sleeping and didn't realize I did this ... I've put his antibiotic ointment to avoid infection and everything went well.

Have you ever seen something like this for a bad shedding ???
I believe he really has trouble with his hormonal system ...
Can it be related to his recent 2 mast cell surgeries ??? his shedding period ???
Or there's no way out and it looks like early signs of Adrenal to you ???

Thanks again for your caring and for your time ...
We really appreciate a lot ... :)

P.S. He eats well, his poops and urine are fine, he's not lethargic, plays as usual, no weight loss, no aggressive behavior. And for those who are curious to know, he always had his 18-20 hours of total darkness per day since he's a baby.
